1765 is the year they were established. Many fore fathers were members of the Son's of Liberty. Sam Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock, Patrick Henry etc...
These colonists back then were committing acts of the highest Treason against the King of England. Their allegiance sworn to America and being independent, these men would commit guerrilla warfare tactics against the British.
Later would be formed into a Militia and then "The Minutemen" by the Continental Congress
